Prior to version 1.12.4, a non-admin SSO user can trigger a TEST_CONNECTION workflow for a Database Service and receive, in the HTTP 201 response of POST /api/v1/automations/workflows, both the cleartext database password in request.connection.config.password and the ingestion bot JWT in openMetadataServerConnection.securityConfig.jwtToken. The leaked ingestion-bot token can then be reused as Authorization: Bearer <jwt> to access sensitive service APIs with bot-level privileges. This issue has been patched in version 1.12.4.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:L","score":8.3},"cwes":["CWE-201"],"references":["https://github.com/open-metadata/OpenMetadata/security/advisories/GHSA-9vmh-whc4-7phg","https://github.com/open-metadata/OpenMetadata/security/advisories/GHSA-9vmh-whc4-7phg"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:38:48.522727527+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-46481","score":0.00241,"percentile":0.15252,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9vmh-whc4-7phg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9vmh-whc4-7phg","summary":"OpenMetadata: TEST_CONNECTION workflow leaks ingestion-bot JWT and database password to regular users","modified":"2026-06-09T13:30:19.016598101Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.open-metadata:openmetadata-service","purl":"pkg:maven/org.open-metadata/openmetadata-service","ranges":["<1.12.4"],"fixed":["1.12.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
