{"cve":"CVE-2026-46383","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-15T17:16:49.090","modified":"2026-10-26T14:10:00.130","status":"Deferred","description":"Microsoft APM is an open-source, community-driven dependency manager for AI agents. Prior to 0.13.0, Microsoft APM contains a Windows-specific archive extraction boundary failure in the legacy-bundle probe used by apm install <bundle> on supported Python 3.10 and 3.11 runtimes. When apm install is given a local .tar.gz that is not recognized as a plugin-format bundle, APM probes whether it is a legacy --format apm bundle. On Python versions earlier than 3.12, that probe extracts untrusted tar members with raw tar.extractall() without rejecting Windows absolute member names such as D:/.... This vulnerability is fixed in 0.13.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-73"],"references":["https://github.com/microsoft/apm/security/advisories/GHSA-mq5j-pw29-jcv3","https://github.com/microsoft/apm/security/advisories/GHSA-mq5j-pw29-jcv3"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T14:27:29.784594657+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-46383","score":0.0061,"percentile":0.48917,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mq5j-pw29-jcv3","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mq5j-pw29-jcv3","summary":"Microsoft APM: Windows absolute-path tar member overwrite during legacy-bundle probing in `apm install`","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:48.069012618Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"apm-cli","purl":"pkg:pypi/apm-cli","ranges":["<0.13.0"],"fixed":["0.13.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2378","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2378","summary":"Microsoft APM: Windows absolute-path tar member overwrite during legacy-bundle probing in `apm install`","modified":"2026-07-13T16:31:35.095216879Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"apm-cli","purl":"pkg:pypi/apm-cli","ranges":["<0.13.0"],"fixed":["0.13.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
