This allows any process to block any other process from\nreading the kernel policy. The original motivation seems to have been\na mix of preventing an inconsistent view of the policy size and\npreventing userspace from allocating kernel memory without bound, but\nthis is arguably equally bad. Eliminate the policy_opened flag and\nshrink the critical section that the policy mutex is held. While we\nare making changes here, drop a couple of extraneous BUG_ONs.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":[],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0ed712134a3db0075bfe9a0f8536c48728ec745e","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/714362f3779dfa453a78ced32396a72726962a41","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/a02cd6805562305f936e807da83e253b719dd965","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c24d2e190b955baf3a95e05d34b192f61bd201b3","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/d8cafd0226d5df682d1f4ea978a4318fe3a11210"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-22T16:41:11.231219466+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-46302","score":0.00114,"percentile":0.01472,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
