When copy_to_user() fails or the user buffer is too small,\nthe error code stored in ret is ignored because the function\nunconditionally returns 0. This causes userspace to believe the\nioctl succeeded when it did not.\n\nAdditionally, kmemdup() can return NULL on allocation failure, but\nthe return value is not checked. This leads to a NULL pointer\ndereference in the subsequent copy_to_user() call.\n\nAdd the missing NULL check for kmemdup() and return ret instead of 0.\n\nNote that the SET counterpart (msm_ioctl_gem_info_set_metadata)\ncorrectly returns ret.\n\nPatchwork: https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/714478/","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-476"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/47cbfe2608314b833ad61a65827d8fb363bc2d2d","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/697e1a9559f6962f999cc4c748c2ffffcc0a7a7a","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b079e85c91f446f29e808d8291189e897f1884ff","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c57c861956b89f2e2528e6384d51e2dedd915809"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-46211","score":0.00127,"percentile":0.02388,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
