If `dma_set_coherent_mask()` or `dma_set_mask()` fails,\nthe error path frees the subchannel structure directly, bypassing\nthe device model reference counting.\n\nOnce `device_initialize()` has been called, the embedded struct device\nmust be released via `put_device()`, allowing the release callback to\nfree the container structure.\n\nFix the error path by dropping the initial device reference with\n`put_device()` instead of calling `kfree()` directly.\n\nThis ensures correct device lifetime handling and avoids potential\nuse-after-free or double-free issues.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-401"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/6715560527e343a387e4a0d2e6c401748e89fa55","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/abb6e07f46a740cda4f07d1b561ae4eaa7a1df42","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c35cfbb5341ba05ad1b4476ffc3c21cc3ff8f603","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f65c75b0b9b5a390bc3beadcde0a6fbc3ad118f7","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f96c5ccf95ae5f27218c1ce2d6a3ad2d3e105424"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45981","score":0.00126,"percentile":0.02291,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
