{"cve":"CVE-2026-45867","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-27T14:17:00.023","modified":"2026-06-25T21:06:38.407","status":"Analyzed","description":"In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:\n\npower: supply: act8945a: Fix use-after-free in power_supply_changed()\n\nUsing the `devm_` variant for requesting IRQ _before_ the `devm_`\nvariant for allocating/registering the `power_supply` handle, means that\nthe `power_supply` handle will be deallocated/unregistered _before_ the\ninterrupt handler (since `devm_` naturally deallocates in reverse\nallocation order). This means that during removal, there is a race\ncondition where an interrupt can fire just _after_ the `power_supply`\nhandle has been freed, *but* just _before_ the corresponding\nunregistration of the IRQ handler has run.\n\nThis will lead to the IRQ handler calling `power_supply_changed()` with\na freed `power_supply` handle. Which usually crashes the system or\notherwise silently corrupts the memory...\n\nNote that there is a similar situation which can also happen during\n`probe()`; the possibility of an interrupt firing _before_ registering\nthe `power_supply` handle. This would then lead to the nasty situation\nof using the `power_supply` handle *uninitialized* in\n`power_supply_changed()`.\n\nFix this racy use-after-free by making sure the IRQ is requested _after_\nthe registration of the `power_supply` handle.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-416"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0768e8525a46df103647ca5059b32320d7fd17e4","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3291c51d4684d048dd2eb91b5b65fcfdaf72141f","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/697bb5dc0cb4791e244f3970b067bc1ef33be9d9","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/76a42ba547a9b2e2337894f67a4d9247445007d5","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/83c1bd466c514cb24ca6ef347c5aac76a13c4e1e"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45867","score":0.00164,"percentile":0.05645,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
