Neither helper\nbounds-checks against isize, and decode() masks its return with\n& 0xffff so it can never return the -1 that callers test for -- those\nerror paths are dead code.\n\nA short compressed frame whose change byte requests optional fields\nlets decode() read past the end of the packet. The over-read bytes\nare folded into the cached cstate and reflected into subsequent\nreconstructed packets.\n\nMake decode() and pull16() take the packet end pointer and return -1\nwhen exhausted. Add a bounds check before the TCP-checksum read.\nThe existing == -1 tests now do what they were always meant to.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:L/A:N","score":8.2},"cwes":["CWE-126"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0511ecb00e61bf28e2fec4bb41fcce385c3a3b2d","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/335957df4ed60f02a2ec0432fbedbf0cc7241d8b","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/37537e42e6df387398bee85cb85070cc80bb1e10","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4c1367a2d7aad643a6f87c6931b13cc1a25e8ca7","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4cefe32639933d652614b0bd50f818f9af4af78f"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-21T03:43:09.190223697+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45843","score":0.00398,"percentile":0.33741,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
