{"cve":"CVE-2026-45784","nvd":{"published":"2026-07-17T21:17:06.503","modified":"2026-07-29T15:43:54.220","status":"Analyzed","description":"rust-openssl provides OpenSSL bindings for the Rust programming language. From 0.10.50 until 0.10.80, CipherCtxRef::cipher_update_inplace in openssl/src/cipher_ctx.rs incorrectly sized output buffers when used with AES key-wrap-with-padding ciphers EVP_aes_{128,192,256}_wrap_pad. For a non-multiple-of-8 input, OpenSSL writes up to 7 bytes past the end of the caller's buffer or Vec, producing attacker-controllable heap corruption when the plaintext length is attacker-influenced. This issue is fixed in version 0.10.80.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:L/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":5.1},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","score":7.1},"cwes":["CWE-131","CWE-787"],"references":["https://github.com/rust-openssl/rust-openssl/commit/19eceb26f2404aae187e5444e65c404ebc1348a7","https://github.com/rust-openssl/rust-openssl/pull/2638","https://github.com/rust-openssl/rust-openssl/releases/tag/openssl-v0.10.80","https://github.com/rust-openssl/rust-openssl/security/advisories/GHSA-phqj-4mhp-q6mq"],"products":["sfackler:openssl"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:45:36.895656543+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45784","score":0.00134,"percentile":0.02888,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-phqj-4mhp-q6mq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-phqj-4mhp-q6mq","summary":"rust-openssl: Potential out-of-bounds write in `CipherCtxRef::cipher_update_inplace` for AES-KW-PAD ciphers","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:06.601254514Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"openssl","purl":"pkg:cargo/openssl","ranges":[">=0.10.50 <0.10.80"],"fixed":["0.10.80"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
