Prior to version 16.2.6, an unauthenticated remote peer can exhaust the disk storage of any @libp2p/kad-dht node running in server mode by sending an unbounded stream of PUT_VALUE messages whose keys bypass all content validation. No credentials, no prior relationship, and no protocol deviation beyond a crafted key are required. The victim node's datastore fills until the host disk is exhausted, making the node unavailable. This issue has been patched in version 16.2.6.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-20","CWE-400"],"references":["https://github.com/libp2p/js-libp2p/security/advisories/GHSA-32mq-hpph-xfvr","https://github.com/libp2p/js-libp2p/security/advisories/GHSA-32mq-hpph-xfvr"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:38:48.522727527+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45783","score":0.00354,"percentile":0.29144,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-32mq-hpph-xfvr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-32mq-hpph-xfvr","summary":"@libp2p/kad-dht: Unvalidated PUT_VALUE records allow unbounded disk exhaustion on DHT server nodes","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:04.226666719Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@libp2p/kad-dht","purl":"pkg:npm/%40libp2p/kad-dht","ranges":["<16.2.6"],"fixed":["16.2.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
