{"cve":"CVE-2026-45774","nvd":{"published":"2026-08-13T20:17:22.173","modified":"2026-09-18T20:09:01.757","status":"Deferred","description":"compliance-trestle is a tooling platform for managing compliance as code. Prior to versions 3.12.2 and 4.0.3, the compliance-trestle library's profile import mechanism resolves `trestle://` URIs and relative file paths by joining them with `trestle_root` and calling `.resolve()`, but performs no boundary check to ensure the resolved path stays within the trestle workspace. An attacker can craft a malicious OSCAL profile YAML with `imports[].href` containing path traversal sequences to read arbitrary files from the server filesystem. Versions 3.12.3 and 4.0.3 patch the issue.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:A/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.9},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/oscal-compass/compliance-trestle/commit/5c65c5926fe7ca908b9c1d281f904e7d97ba8310","https://github.com/oscal-compass/compliance-trestle/commit/d00a0c2f702c24f7016009fbd626036f5c46f47b","https://github.com/oscal-compass/compliance-trestle/security/advisories/GHSA-mj4x-vf5c-5xg8","https://github.com/pypa/advisory-database/tree/main/vulns/compliance-trestle/PYSEC-2026-2426.yaml","https://github.com/oscal-compass/compliance-trestle/security/advisories/GHSA-mj4x-vf5c-5xg8"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:48:17.459049833+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45774","score":0.00544,"percentile":0.45708,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mj4x-vf5c-5xg8","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mj4x-vf5c-5xg8","summary":"compliance-trestle Profile Import has an Arbitrary File Read via trestle:// URI and Relative Path Traversal","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:18.319209788Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"compliance-trestle","purl":"pkg:pypi/compliance-trestle","ranges":[">=4.0.0 <4.0.3"],"fixed":["4.0.3"]},{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"compliance-trestle","purl":"pkg:pypi/compliance-trestle","ranges":["<3.12.2"],"fixed":["3.12.2"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2426","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2426","summary":"compliance-trestle Profile Import has an Arbitrary File Read via trestle:// URI and Relative Path Traversal","modified":"2026-07-13T16:32:36.288317301Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"compliance-trestle","purl":"pkg:pypi/compliance-trestle","ranges":["<3.12.2",">=4.0.0 <4.0.3"],"fixed":["3.12.2","4.0.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
