{"cve":"CVE-2026-45411","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-13T18:16:19.427","modified":"2026-10-26T14:10:00.130","status":"Modified","description":"vm2 is an open source vm/sandbox for Node.js. Prior to 3.11.3, it is possible to catch a host exception using the yield* expression inside an async generator. When the generator is closed using the return function, the value is awaited on and exceptions thrown in the then call will be caught by the runtime and passed to the yield* iterator as the next value. This allows attackers to write code which can escape from the VM2 sandbox and execute arbitrary commands on the host system. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.11.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-668","CWE-237"],"references":["https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/security/advisories/GHSA-248r-7h7q-cr24","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:50850","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-45411","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2477210","https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/security/advisories/GHSA-248r-7h7q-cr24"],"products":["vm2_project:vm2"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T14:27:29.784594657+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45411","score":0.00568,"percentile":0.46824,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-248r-7h7q-cr24","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-248r-7h7q-cr24","summary":"vm2 Has a Sandbox Breakout Using Async Generator","modified":"2026-05-14T21:41:25.210964Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vm2","purl":"pkg:npm/vm2","ranges":["<3.11.3"],"fixed":["3.11.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
