Prior to 0.9.5, the tool update endpoint (POST /api/v1/tools/id/{id}/update) is missing the workspace.tools permission check that is present on the tool create endpoint. This allows a user who has been explicitly denied tool management capabilities ( and who the administrator considers untrusted for code execution ) to replace a tool's server-side Python content and trigger execution, bypassing the intended workspace.tools security boundary. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.9.5.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.2},"cwes":["CWE-269","CWE-862"],"references":["https://github.com/open-webui/open-webui/security/advisories/GHSA-p4fx-23fq-jfg6","https://github.com/open-webui/open-webui/security/advisories/GHSA-p4fx-23fq-jfg6"],"products":["openwebui:open_webui"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:35:16.954578616+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45395","score":0.00437,"percentile":0.3802,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-p4fx-23fq-jfg6","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-p4fx-23fq-jfg6","summary":"Open WebUI: Missing `workspace.tools` Authorization Check on Tool Update Endpoint Allows Privilege Escalation to Code Execution","modified":"2026-05-16T00:10:03.794774Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"open-webui","purl":"pkg:npm/open-webui","ranges":["<0.9.5"],"fixed":["0.9.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
