Prior to 1.1.3, the _substitute_utcp_args method in cli_communication_protocol.py inserts user-controlled tool_args values directly into shell command strings without any sanitization or escaping. These commands are then executed via /bin/bash -c (Unix) or powershell.exe -Command (Windows), allowing an attacker to inject arbitrary shell commands. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.1.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.3},"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/universal-tool-calling-protocol/python-utcp/security/advisories/GHSA-33p6-5jxp-p3x4","https://github.com/universal-tool-calling-protocol/python-utcp/security/advisories/GHSA-33p6-5jxp-p3x4"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T14:27:29.784594657+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45369","score":0.00272,"percentile":0.19324,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-33p6-5jxp-p3x4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-33p6-5jxp-p3x4","summary":"utcp-cli Vulnerable to Command Injection via Unsanitized Argument Substitution in CLI Communication Protocol","modified":"2026-06-29T12:26:42.225441037Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"utcp-cli","purl":"pkg:pypi/utcp-cli","ranges":["<1.1.2"],"fixed":["1.1.2"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-560","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-560","summary":"utcp-cli Vulnerable to Command Injection via Unsanitized Argument Substitution in CLI Communication Protocol","modified":"2026-07-13T16:15:34.582908640Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"utcp-cli","purl":"pkg:pypi/utcp-cli","ranges":["<1.1.2"],"fixed":["1.1.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
