Prior to 2.2.0, the built-in FileSystemLoader and CachingFileSystemLoader do not guard against reading files outside their search paths when given an absolute path to resolve. This allows malicious template authors to load and render arbitrary files via the {% include %} and {% render %} tags. Targeted files would need to contain valid Liquid markup and be readable by the application process. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.2.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.2},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/jg-rp/liquid/security/advisories/GHSA-8p4x-wr7x-3788"],"products":["jg-rp:python_liquid"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T13:39:24.642594360+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-45017","score":0.00336,"percentile":0.2672,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8p4x-wr7x-3788","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8p4x-wr7x-3788","summary":"python-liquid: Absolute paths escape filesystem loader search path","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:04.993437942Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"python-liquid","purl":"pkg:pypi/python-liquid","ranges":["<2.2.0"],"fixed":["2.2.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-192","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-192","summary":"","modified":"2026-06-03T12:45:18.117068844Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"python-liquid","purl":"pkg:pypi/python-liquid","ranges":["<2.2.0"],"fixed":["2.2.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
