From 1.0.1 to 2.6.0, an integer overflow in the internal capacity calculation of smallbitvec can lead to an undersized heap allocation, resulting in a heap buffer overflow through safe APIs only. This allows memory corruption without requiring unsafe code from the caller. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.6.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:H","score":7.3},"cwes":["CWE-122","CWE-190"],"references":["https://github.com/servo/smallbitvec/security/advisories/GHSA-97wc-2hqc-cjgr","https://github.com/servo/smallbitvec/security/advisories/GHSA-97wc-2hqc-cjgr"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44983","score":0.00151,"percentile":0.04268,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-97wc-2hqc-cjgr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-97wc-2hqc-cjgr","summary":"smallbitvec: Integer overflow in safe API leads to heap buffer overflow","modified":"2026-06-08T23:45:14.600600172Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"smallbitvec","purl":"pkg:cargo/smallbitvec","ranges":[">=1.0.1 <=2.6.0"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
