In 2.1.5 and earlier, a prototype pollution vulnerability was discovered in velocityjs. This issue occurs during the processing of #set directives in Velocity templates. If an application renders a template controlled by an attacker, it is possible to modify Object.prototype, potentially leading to Denial of Service (DoS) or Remote Code Execution (RCE) depending on the server environment.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-1321"],"references":["https://github.com/shepherdwind/velocity.js/security/advisories/GHSA-j658-c2gf-x6pq"],"products":["shepherdwind:velocity.js"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44966","score":0.00545,"percentile":0.4575,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-j658-c2gf-x6pq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-j658-c2gf-x6pq","summary":"Velocity.js has a Prototype Pollution vulnerability through #set path assignment","modified":"2026-06-08T23:45:16.063373921Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"velocityjs","purl":"pkg:npm/velocityjs","ranges":["<=2.1.5"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
