{"cve":"CVE-2026-44889","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-22T22:16:46.350","modified":"2026-10-25T23:10:00.167","status":"Analyzed","description":"WebOb provides objects for HTTP requests and responses. Prior to 1.8.10, the normalization of the HTTP Location header during a redirect is vulnerable to an open redirect: WebOb joins the redirect target to the request URI using Python's urljoin, and since Python 3.10 the underlying urlsplit strips ASCII tab, carriage return, and newline characters before parsing, so a redirect target containing such characters can be reinterpreted as a protocol-relative URL whose authority is an attacker-controlled host. This bypasses the CVE-2024-42353 fix that escaped a leading double slash, allowing an attacker who influences the redirect location to send users to an arbitrary external site instead of the intended one. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.8.10.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-601"],"references":["https://github.com/Pylons/webob/security/advisories/GHSA-fh3h-vg37-cc95"],"products":["pylonsproject:webob"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T23:44:33.281319194+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44889","score":0.00269,"percentile":0.18853,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-fh3h-vg37-cc95","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-fh3h-vg37-cc95","summary":"WebOb: Location header normalization during redirect leads to open redirect - again","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:49.442249208Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"webob","purl":"pkg:pypi/webob","ranges":["<1.8.10"],"fixed":["1.8.10"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-251","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-251","summary":"","modified":"2026-06-27T11:15:06.802750750Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"webob","purl":"pkg:pypi/webob","ranges":["<1.8.10"],"fixed":["1.8.10"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
