{"cve":"CVE-2026-44641","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-15T17:16:47.633","modified":"2026-10-26T14:10:00.130","status":"Deferred","description":"Microsoft APM is an open-source, community-driven dependency manager for AI agents. Prior to 0.8.12, Microsoft APM normalizes marketplace plugins by copying plugin components referenced in plugin.json into .apm/. The manifest fields agents, skills, commands, and hooks are attacker-controlled, but the implementation does not enforce that those paths remain inside the plugin directory. A malicious plugin can therefore use absolute paths or ../ traversal paths to copy arbitrary readable host files or directories from the installer's machine during apm install. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.8.12.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":7.1},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-73"],"references":["https://github.com/microsoft/apm/security/advisories/GHSA-xhrw-5qxx-jpwr","https://github.com/microsoft/apm/security/advisories/GHSA-xhrw-5qxx-jpwr"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T14:27:29.784594657+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44641","score":0.00317,"percentile":0.24464,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xhrw-5qxx-jpwr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xhrw-5qxx-jpwr","summary":"Microsoft APM CLI's plugin.json component paths escape plugin root and copy arbitrary host files during install","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:07.078558877Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"apm-cli","purl":"pkg:pypi/apm-cli","ranges":["<0.8.12"],"fixed":["0.8.12"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2379","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2379","summary":"Microsoft APM CLI's plugin.json component paths escape plugin root and copy arbitrary host files during install","modified":"2026-07-13T16:31:31.251293076Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"apm-cli","purl":"pkg:pypi/apm-cli","ranges":["<0.8.12"],"fixed":["0.8.12"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
