{"cve":"CVE-2026-44596","nvd":{"published":"2026-07-16T17:16:55.880","modified":"2026-07-17T18:44:26.383","status":"Analyzed","description":"Yamcs is a mission control framework. Prior to 5.12.7, the authentication endpoint POST /auth/token in yamcs-core, handled by yamcs-core/src/main/java/org/yamcs/http/auth/AuthHandler.java, lacked any rate limiting, account lockout, or failed-attempt throttling, so an unauthenticated remote attacker could perform unlimited password-guessing attempts against any user account, significantly increasing the risk of successful brute-force attacks. This issue is fixed in versions 5.12.7 and 5.13.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-307"],"references":["https://github.com/yamcs/yamcs/commit/309218c651680f79df11a8d0f8628f7033f98a83","https://github.com/yamcs/yamcs/commit/64392df531fbcbc65f19ee5724c4c23d289f49fc","https://github.com/yamcs/yamcs/releases/tag/yamcs-5.12.7","https://github.com/yamcs/yamcs/releases/tag/yamcs-5.13.0","https://github.com/yamcs/yamcs/security/advisories/GHSA-w5r6-mcgq-7pq4"],"products":["spaceapplications:yamcs"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:45:36.895656543+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44596","score":0.0206,"percentile":0.81332,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-w5r6-mcgq-7pq4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-w5r6-mcgq-7pq4","summary":"Yamcs has No Rate Limiting on Authentication Endpoint","modified":"2026-05-27T00:26:30.019446Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.yamcs:yamcs-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.yamcs/yamcs-core","ranges":["<5.12.7"],"fixed":["5.12.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
