Prior to zebrad version 4.4.0 and prior to zebra-script version 6.0.0, the fix for CVE-2026-41583 introduced a separate issue due to insufficient error handling of the case where the sighash type is invalid, during sighash computation. Instead of returning an error, the normal flow would resume, and the input sighash buffer would be left untouched. In scenarios where a previous signature validation could leave a valid sighash in the buffer, an invalid hash-type could be incorrectly accepted, which would create a consensus split between Zebra and zcashd nodes. This issue has been patched in zebrad version 4.4.0 and zebra-script version 6.0.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:H/SA:H","score":9.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","score":9.1},"cwes":["CWE-347"],"references":["https://github.com/ZcashFoundation/zebra/security/advisories/GHSA-gq4h-3grw-2rhv"],"products":["zfnd:zebra-script","zfnd:zebrad"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:33:55.586217763+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44497","score":0.00188,"percentile":0.08463,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-gq4h-3grw-2rhv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-gq4h-3grw-2rhv","summary":"Zebra has Consensus Divergence in Transparent Sighash Hash-Type Handling due to Stale Buffer","modified":"2026-05-13T13:51:55.152295Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"zebra-script","purl":"pkg:cargo/zebra-script","ranges":["<6.0.0"],"fixed":["6.0.0"]},{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"zebrad","purl":"pkg:cargo/zebrad","ranges":["<4.4.0"],"fixed":["4.4.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
