Prior to 8.4.0, Streamlink's HLS and DASH parsers do not validate the URI scheme of segment entries and other resources. A remote .m3u8 HLS playlist or .mpd DASH manifest can list file:///path/to/file as a segment, and streamlink will read that local file and write its contents to the output stream. This vulnerability is fixed in 8.4.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/streamlink/streamlink/security/advisories/GHSA-hgqw-6m45-hw5f","https://github.com/streamlink/streamlink/security/advisories/GHSA-hgqw-6m45-hw5f"],"products":["streamlink:streamlink"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44353","score":0.00436,"percentile":0.37953,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-hgqw-6m45-hw5f","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-hgqw-6m45-hw5f","summary":"Streamlink has an arbitrary local file read via file:// URI in HLS and DASH","modified":"2026-06-09T00:00:19.279437069Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"streamlink","purl":"pkg:pypi/streamlink","ranges":["<8.4.0"],"fixed":["8.4.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-180","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-180","summary":"","modified":"2026-06-02T12:15:10.871845747Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"streamlink","purl":"pkg:pypi/streamlink","ranges":["<8.4.0"],"fixed":["8.4.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
