{"cve":"CVE-2026-44220","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-12T20:16:42.893","modified":"2026-10-26T18:10:00.173","status":"Deferred","description":"ciguard is a static security auditor for CI/CD pipelines. From 0.8.0 to 0.8.1 , the discover_pipeline_files() function in src/ciguard/discovery.py walks a directory tree following symlinks, with cycle protection via tracking visited resolved paths. An attacker who can plant a symlink in a directory the user (or AI agent) scans can cause discovery to walk into the symlink target and return paths to pipeline-shaped files outside the requested root. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.8.2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":3.2},"cwes":["CWE-59"],"references":["https://github.com/Jo-Jo98/ciguard/security/advisories/GHSA-8cxw-cc62-q28v","https://github.com/Jo-Jo98/ciguard/security/advisories/GHSA-8cxw-cc62-q28v"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T18:27:13.530666824+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44220","score":0.00158,"percentile":0.04886,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8cxw-cc62-q28v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8cxw-cc62-q28v","summary":"ciguard: discover_pipeline_files follows symlinks out of scan root","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:33.711654597Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"ciguard","purl":"pkg:pypi/ciguard","ranges":[">=0.8.0 <0.8.2"],"fixed":["0.8.2"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2408","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2408","summary":"ciguard: discover_pipeline_files follows symlinks out of scan root","modified":"2026-07-13T16:32:11.271630722Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"ciguard","purl":"pkg:pypi/ciguard","ranges":[">=0.8.0 <0.8.2"],"fixed":["0.8.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
