{"cve":"CVE-2026-44216","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-14T15:16:47.793","modified":"2026-10-26T14:10:00.130","status":"Modified","description":"Wasmtime is a runtime for WebAssembly. From 30.0.0 to 36.0.8, 43.0.2, and 44.0.1, Wasmtime's allocation logic for a WebAssembly table contained checked arithmetic which panicked on overflow. This overflow is possible to trigger, and thus panic, when a table with an extremely large size is allocated. This is possible with the WebAssembly memory64 proposal where tables can have sizes in the 64-bit range as opposed to the previous 32-bit range which would not overflow. The panic happens when attempting to create a very large table, such as when instantiating a WebAssembly module or component. This vulnerability is fixed in 36.0.8, 43.0.2, and 44.0.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:P/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":5.9},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-770","CWE-190"],"references":["https://github.com/bytecodealliance/wasmtime/security/advisories/GHSA-p8xm-42r7-89xg","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:45341","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-44216","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2477467","https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-44216.json"],"products":["bytecodealliance:wasmtime"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T14:27:29.784594657+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44216","score":0.00319,"percentile":0.24649,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-p8xm-42r7-89xg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-p8xm-42r7-89xg","summary":"wasmtime has a panic when allocating a table exceeding the size of the host's address space","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:06.597903830Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"wasmtime","purl":"pkg:cargo/wasmtime","ranges":[">=30.0.0 <36.0.8"],"fixed":["36.0.8"]},{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"wasmtime","purl":"pkg:cargo/wasmtime","ranges":[">=37.0.0 <43.0.2"],"fixed":["43.0.2"]}]},{"id":"RUSTSEC-2026-0114","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/RUSTSEC-2026-0114","summary":"Panic when allocating a table exceeding the size of the host's address space","modified":"2026-10-12T18:00:08.331525891Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"wasmtime","purl":"pkg:cargo/wasmtime","ranges":[">=30.0.0 <36.0.8",">=37.0.0 <43.0.2",">=44.0.0 <44.0.1"],"fixed":["36.0.8","43.0.2","44.0.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
