Prior to 1.0.2, eventsource-encoder does not sanitize the event or id fields of an EventSourceMessage before serializing them. An attacker who controls either field can inject arbitrary Server-Sent Events line terminators (\\n, \\r, or \\r\\n) and thereby forge additional SSE fields or entire messages on the stream. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.0.2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-93","CWE-113"],"references":["https://github.com/rexxars/eventsource-encoder/security/advisories/GHSA-m9g3-3g99-mhpx","https://github.com/rexxars/eventsource-encoder/security/advisories/GHSA-m9g3-3g99-mhpx"],"products":["rexxars:eventsource-encoder"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44214","score":0.00277,"percentile":0.20153,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-m9g3-3g99-mhpx","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-m9g3-3g99-mhpx","summary":"eventsource-encoder vulnerable to SSE event injection via unsanitized `event` and `id` fields","modified":"2026-06-08T23:45:16.047996564Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"eventsource-encoder","purl":"pkg:npm/eventsource-encoder","ranges":["<1.0.2"],"fixed":["1.0.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
