Prior to 2.4.2, banks uses jinja2.Environment() (unsandboxed) to render prompt templates. Applications that pass user-supplied strings as the template argument to Prompt() are vulnerable to Server-Side Template Injection (SSTI), which can lead to Remote Code Execution (RCE) on the host system. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.4.2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-1336","CWE-917"],"references":["https://github.com/masci/banks/pull/74","https://github.com/masci/banks/security/advisories/GHSA-gphh-9q3h-jgpp","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-44209","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2481713","https://github.com/masci/banks/security/advisories/GHSA-gphh-9q3h-jgpp"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44209","score":0.00423,"percentile":0.36655,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-gphh-9q3h-jgpp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-gphh-9q3h-jgpp","summary":"banks has Critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) via Jinja2 SSTI","modified":"2026-07-13T16:42:52.498372734Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"banks","purl":"pkg:pypi/banks","ranges":["<2.4.2"],"fixed":["2.4.2"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2390","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2390","summary":"banks has Critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) via Jinja2 SSTI","modified":"2026-07-13T16:31:32.347040930Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"banks","purl":"pkg:pypi/banks","ranges":["<2.4.2"],"fixed":["2.4.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
