Prior to 1.19.3, Fluentd's in_http and in_forward plugins support gzip-compressed data but enforce limits only on compressed payloads through settings such as body_size_limit and chunk_size_limit, allowing crafted compressed payloads to decompress in memory to an excessive size and cause denial of service through memory exhaustion. This issue is fixed in version 1.19.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-409"],"references":["https://github.com/fluent/fluentd/commit/f5f2b7cddf8aab3932e6dec9fa367a5f3eb27e10","https://github.com/fluent/fluentd/pull/5393","https://github.com/fluent/fluentd/releases/tag/v1.19.3","https://github.com/fluent/fluentd/security/advisories/GHSA-j9cw-hwqf-85w7"],"products":["fluentd:fluentd"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T17:50:06.907763985+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44160","score":0.0062,"percentile":0.49391,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-j9cw-hwqf-85w7","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-j9cw-hwqf-85w7","summary":"Fluentd is Vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) via Gzip Decompression Bomb in `in_http` and `in_forward`","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:49.991965490Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"fluentd","purl":"pkg:gem/fluentd","ranges":["<1.19.3"],"fixed":["1.19.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
