From 2.45.0 until 2.91.0, the METS-GBS backend's XML parsing and the input document format detection lacked security controls. An attacker could craft malicious METS-GBS archives that, when processed, could read sensitive files, exhaust system resources, or cause application crashes. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.91.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H","score":7.1},"cwes":["CWE-409","CWE-611","CWE-776"],"references":["https://github.com/docling-project/docling/releases/tag/v2.91.0","https://github.com/docling-project/docling/security/advisories/GHSA-r3xg-rg9j-67fv"],"products":["docling:docling"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-25T17:50:06.907763985+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44018","score":0.00161,"percentile":0.05249,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-r3xg-rg9j-67fv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-r3xg-rg9j-67fv","summary":"Docling: Unsafe Archive Extraction and XML Parsing in METS-GBS Backend","modified":"2026-07-21T15:15:50.260072276Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"docling","purl":"pkg:pypi/docling","ranges":[">=2.45.0 <2.91.0"],"fixed":["2.91.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2144","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2144","summary":"","modified":"2026-07-13T07:15:23.386028754Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"docling","purl":"pkg:pypi/docling","ranges":[">=2.45.0 <2.91.0"],"fixed":["2.91.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
