Prior to 3.11.0, a sandbox escape vulnerability in vm2 v3.10.5 allows any sandboxed code to crash the host Node.js process via a single Promise constructor that triggers an unhandled rejection propagating to the host. The fix for CVE-2026-22709 (v3.10.2) only sanitized the onRejected callback in .then() and .catch() overrides and did not address the executor-to-unhandledRejection path. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.11.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":8.6},"cwes":["CWE-248"],"references":["https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/security/advisories/GHSA-hw58-p9xv-2mjh","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:50850","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-44001","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2477208","https://github.com/patriksimek/vm2/security/advisories/GHSA-hw58-p9xv-2mjh"],"products":["vm2_project:vm2"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T17:39:09.812804557+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-44001","score":0.00448,"percentile":0.38713,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-hw58-p9xv-2mjh","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-hw58-p9xv-2mjh","summary":"vm2 has a Sandbox Escape via Promise Constructor Unhandled Rejection (Process Crash DoS)","modified":"2026-05-14T20:51:19.447618Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"vm2","purl":"pkg:npm/vm2","ranges":["<3.11.0"],"fixed":["3.11.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
