{"cve":"CVE-2026-4329","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-26T05:16:40.287","modified":"2026-06-17T10:56:25.633","status":"Deferred","description":"The Blackhole for Bad Bots plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the User-Agent HTTP header in all versions up to and including 3.8. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. The plugin uses sanitize_text_field() when capturing bot data (which strips HTML tags but does not escape HTML entities like double quotes), then stores the data via update_option(). When an administrator views the Bad Bots log page, the stored data is output directly into HTML input value attributes (lines 75-83) without esc_attr() and into HTML span content without esc_html(). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when an administrator views the Blackhole Bad Bots admin page.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":7.2},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/blackhole-bad-bots/tags/3.8/inc/badbots-register.php#L75","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/blackhole-bad-bots/tags/3.8/inc/badbots-register.php#L79","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/blackhole-bad-bots/tags/3.8/inc/badbots-register.php#L85","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/blackhole-bad-bots/tags/3.8/inc/blackhole-core.php#L180","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/blackhole-bad-bots/tags/3.8/inc/blackhole-helpers.php#L22"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:28:18.033120106+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-4329","score":0.00321,"percentile":0.25145,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
