However, as we have\npreviously seen, doing so can easily result in OOB reads and writes in\nthe subsequent thread of execution.\n\nThe current suggestion from one of the HID maintainers is to remove the\nmemset() and simply return if the incoming event buffer size is not\nlarge enough to fill the associated report.\n\nSuggested-by Benjamin Tissoires <bentiss@kernel.org>\n\n[bentiss: changed the return value]","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-125","CWE-787"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/0a3fe972a7cb1404f693d6f1711f32bc1d244b1c","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/218b93b7e284de1aa40a53f8f130f84f7da38858","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/8f71034649738fdeb6859b8d6cddf132024fac06","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b37e6019fe420335d884e30535549a25f084e00d","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/bd6e1d0230cca9575f5d118148f51e2a56b5373f"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-22T16:41:11.231219466+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-43048","score":0.00313,"percentile":0.23988,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
