Versions of the @apostrophecms/cli package up to and including 3.6.0 contain a command injection vulnerability in the apos create command. User-supplied input from the password prompt is embedded directly into a shell command without proper sanitization or escaping. This allows execution of arbitrary commands on the host system. As of time of publication, no known patched versions are available.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/apostrophecms/apostrophe/security/advisories/GHSA-hcwq-x9fw-8cfq","https://github.com/apostrophecms/apostrophe/security/advisories/GHSA-hcwq-x9fw-8cfq"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T11:33:08.859761529+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-42853","score":0.00428,"percentile":0.36766,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-hcwq-x9fw-8cfq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-hcwq-x9fw-8cfq","summary":"@apostrophecms/cli: Command Injection in apos create via Unsanitized Password Input","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:47.116756182Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@apostrophecms/cli","purl":"pkg:npm/%40apostrophecms/cli","ranges":["<=3.6.0"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
