From 5.0.1252.0 to before 6.0.1698.0, a null-pointer dereference exists in the UFS/UFS2 filesystem image parser in NanaZip. The vulnerability is triggered when opening a crafted UFS image where the root inode (inode 2) is set to IFLNK (symlink) instead of IFDIR (directory). The parser unconditionally treats the root inode as a directory without checking its type, and when the symlink has an embedded target (small di_size), the directory data buffer is zero-length, causing a null-pointer dereference on the first read. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.0.1698.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-476"],"references":["https://github.com/M2Team/NanaZip/security/advisories/GHSA-8r4x-fx3w-ph77"],"products":["m2team:nanazip"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T18:27:13.530666824+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-42442","score":0.00111,"percentile":0.01319,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
