When an application explicitly calls the API to retrieve a policy from a remote URI, an outbound request is made for arbitrary protocols and internal IP adddresses. From 3.2.2, only http or https URIs are allowed, and link-local/multicast/any-local addresses are forbidden.\n\nUsers are recommended to upgrade to version 3.2.2, which fixes this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":7.2},"cwes":["CWE-918"],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread/zdspnt64zznyjyn648553kptx69w23oq","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2026/05/01/8"],"products":["apache:neethi"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T22:26:44.656832877+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-42404","score":0.00497,"percentile":0.42353,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-287c-fxr7-3w6c","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-287c-fxr7-3w6c","summary":"Apache Neethi doesn't impose any restrictions on URIs when manually fetching remote policy references through the PolicyReference API","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:45.269717658Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.neethi:neethi","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.neethi/neethi","ranges":["<3.2.2"],"fixed":["3.2.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
