Prior to version 0.14.1, pyp2spec was writing PyPI package metadata (e.g. the summary field) into the generated spec file without escaping RPM macro directives. When a packager then runs rpmbuild, those directives get evaluated, so a malicious package can execute arbitrary commands on the build machine. This issue has been patched in version 0.14.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-20","CWE-94"],"references":["https://github.com/befeleme/pyp2spec/releases/tag/v0.14.1","https://github.com/befeleme/pyp2spec/security/advisories/GHSA-r35x-v8p8-xvhw"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:33:55.586217763+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-42301","score":0.00198,"percentile":0.096,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-r35x-v8p8-xvhw","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-r35x-v8p8-xvhw","summary":"pyp2spec is Vulnerable to Code Injection","modified":"2026-07-13T16:43:26.704373754Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pyp2spec","purl":"pkg:pypi/pyp2spec","ranges":["<0.14.1"],"fixed":["0.14.1"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-3003","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-3003","summary":"pyp2spec is Vulnerable to Code Injection","modified":"2026-07-13T16:33:08.866706461Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pyp2spec","purl":"pkg:pypi/pyp2spec","ranges":["<0.14.1"],"fixed":["0.14.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
