Prior to 2.36.0, an unauthenticated Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in the /cors endpoint allows any remote attacker to force the MagicMirror² server to perform arbitrary HTTP requests to internal networks, cloud metadata services, and localhost services. The endpoint also expands environment variable placeholders (**VAR_NAME**), enabling exfiltration of server-side secrets. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.36.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:H/SI:N/SA:N","score":9.2},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":8.6},"cwes":["CWE-918"],"references":["https://github.com/MagicMirrorOrg/MagicMirror/security/advisories/GHSA-ph6f-2cvq-79hq","https://github.com/MagicMirrorOrg/MagicMirror/security/advisories/GHSA-ph6f-2cvq-79hq"],"products":["magicmirror:magicmirror"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T14:27:29.784594657+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-42281","score":0.01623,"percentile":0.75948,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-ph6f-2cvq-79hq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-ph6f-2cvq-79hq","summary":"MagicMirror vulnerable to unauthenticated SSRF via /cors endpoint","modified":"2026-06-08T23:30:17.620593401Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"magicmirror","purl":"pkg:npm/magicmirror","ranges":["<2.36.0"],"fixed":["2.36.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
