{"cve":"CVE-2026-42208","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-08T04:16:19.923","modified":"2026-10-26T20:10:00.160","status":"Analyzed","description":"LiteLLM is a proxy server (AI Gateway) to call LLM APIs in OpenAI (or native) format. From version 1.81.16 to before version 1.83.7, a database query used during proxy API key checks mixed the caller-supplied key value into the query text instead of passing it as a separate parameter. An unauthenticated attacker could send a specially crafted Authorization header to any LLM API route (for example POST /chat/completions) and reach this query through the proxy's error-handling path. An attacker could read data from the proxy's database and may be able to modify it, leading to unauthorised access to the proxy and the credentials it manages. This issue has been patched in version 1.83.7.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":9.3},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-89"],"references":["https://github.com/BerriAI/litellm/releases/tag/v1.83.7-stable","https://github.com/BerriAI/litellm/security/advisories/GHSA-r75f-5x8p-qvmc","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-42208","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2463965","https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-42208.json"],"products":["litellm:litellm"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T20:34:58.897451322+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-42208","score":0.8942,"percentile":0.99783,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":{"cve":"CVE-2026-42208","date_added":"2026-05-08","due_date":"2026-05-11","vendor":"BerriAI","product":"LiteLLM","known_ransomware":false},"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-r75f-5x8p-qvmc","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-r75f-5x8p-qvmc","summary":"LiteLLM has SQL Injection in Proxy API key verification","modified":"2026-10-05T18:45:06.017895472Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"litellm","purl":"pkg:pypi/litellm","ranges":[">=1.81.16 <1.83.7"],"fixed":["1.83.7"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-391","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-391","summary":"LiteLLM has SQL Injection in Proxy API key verification","modified":"2026-07-01T20:22:56.429351Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"litellm","purl":"pkg:pypi/litellm","ranges":[">=1.81.16 <1.83.7"],"fixed":["1.83.7"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
