Prior to 4.2.2, the AMF in Free5GC does not enforce the concurrent security procedure rules defined in 3GPP TS 33.501 §6.9.5.1. The AMF does not check for ongoing N2 handover procedures before initiating a NAS Security Mode Command, and vice versa. This can lead to mismatches between NAS and AS security contexts in the network and the UE. This vulnerability is fixed in 4.2.2.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-358"],"references":["https://github.com/free5gc/free5gc/security/advisories/GHSA-vrrx-58h3-prmh","https://github.com/free5gc/free5gc/security/advisories/GHSA-vrrx-58h3-prmh"],"products":["free5gc:free5gc"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-42082","score":0.00251,"percentile":0.16294,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-vrrx-58h3-prmh","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-vrrx-58h3-prmh","summary":"Free5GC AMF has Missing Concurrent NAS SMC Validation During NGAP Handover ","modified":"2026-06-25T23:11:09.677999221Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/free5gc/amf","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/free5gc/amf","ranges":["<=1.4.3"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-5673","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-5673","summary":"Free5GC AMF has Missing Concurrent NAS SMC Validation During NGAP Handover in github.com/free5gc/amf","modified":"2026-06-25T23:01:26.471517290Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/free5gc/amf","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/free5gc/amf","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
