The fix in CVE-2026-27857 was incomplete, only blocking one way of doing this, so there was still another way left open. In particular, the fix was for closing braces, but you could still use open braces to bypass the limit. Using excessive bracing, attacker can cause memory usage up to configured memory limit. Install fixed version, or configure vsz_limit for imap process to low value. No publicly available exploits are known.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-400","CWE-770"],"references":["https://documentation.open-xchange.com/dovecot/security/advisories/csaf/2026/oxdc-adv-2026-0002.json","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:41905","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:41988","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:42091","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:44355"],"products":["dovecot:dovecot","open-xchange:dovecot"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T18:27:13.530666824+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-42006","score":0.00621,"percentile":0.49475,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
