Prior to version 3.1.3, OpenMcdf does not detect cycles in the directory entry red-black tree of a Compound File Binary (CFB) document. A crafted CFB file with a cycle in the LeftSiblingID / RightSiblingID chain causes Storage.EnumerateEntries() and Storage.OpenStream() to loop indefinitely, consuming the calling thread with no possibility of recovery via try/catch. This issue has been patched in version 3.1.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-835"],"references":["https://github.com/openmcdf/openmcdf/commit/24f445a557fc4f46461cf6d02d296cce16c293a0","https://github.com/openmcdf/openmcdf/releases/tag/v3.1.3","https://github.com/openmcdf/openmcdf/security/advisories/GHSA-jxpf-xq2m-q525","https://github.com/openmcdf/openmcdf/security/advisories/GHSA-jxpf-xq2m-q525"],"products":["openmcdf:openmcdf"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T18:27:13.530666824+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-41511","score":0.00187,"percentile":0.08188,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
