{"cve":"CVE-2026-41426","nvd":{"published":"2026-04-24T20:16:27.247","modified":"2026-06-17T10:46:42.490","status":"Analyzed","description":"pretalx is a conference planning tool. Prior to 2026.1.0, an unauthenticated attacker can send arbitrary HTML-rendered emails from a pretalx instance's configured sender address by embedding malformed HTML or markdown link syntax in a user-controlled template placeholder such as the account display name. The most direct vector is the password-reset flow: the attacker registers an account with a malicious name, enters the victim's email address, and triggers a password reset. The resulting email is delivered from the event's legitimate sender address and passes SPF/DKIM/DMARC validation, making it a ready-made phishing vector. This vulnerability is fixed in 2026.1.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79","CWE-116"],"references":["https://github.com/pretalx/pretalx/security/advisories/GHSA-jm8c-9f3j-4378"],"products":["pretalx:pretalx"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:33:09.003606135+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-41426","score":0.00154,"percentile":0.0453,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-jm8c-9f3j-4378","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-jm8c-9f3j-4378","summary":"pretalx mail templates vulnerable to email injection via unescaped user-controlled placeholders","modified":"2026-06-08T19:15:13.810245726Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pretalx","purl":"pkg:pypi/pretalx","ranges":["<2026.1.0"],"fixed":["2026.1.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-109","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-109","summary":"","modified":"2026-05-20T09:19:11.385949Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pretalx","purl":"pkg:pypi/pretalx","ranges":["<2026.1.0"],"fixed":["2026.1.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
