{"cve":"CVE-2026-41417","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-06T22:16:25.780","modified":"2026-06-17T10:46:41.753","status":"Analyzed","description":"Netty allows request-line validation to be bypassed when a `DefaultHttpRequest` or `DefaultFullHttpRequest` is created first and its URI is later changed via `setUri()`. The constructors reject CRLF and whitespace characters that would break the start-line, but `setUri()` does not apply the same validation. `HttpRequestEncoder` and `RtspEncoder` then write the URI into the request line verbatim. If attacker-controlled input reaches `setUri()`, this enables CRLF injection and insertion of additional HTTP or RTSP requests, leading to HTTP request smuggling or desynchronization on the HTTP side and request injection on the RTSP side. This issue is fixed in versions 4.2.13.Final and 4.1.133.Final.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-93","CWE-444"],"references":["https://github.com/netty/netty/security/advisories/GHSA-v8h7-rr48-vmmv","https://github.com/netty/netty/security/advisories/GHSA-v8h7-rr48-vmmv"],"products":["netty:netty"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:33:55.586217763+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-41417","score":0.00318,"percentile":0.24809,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-v8h7-rr48-vmmv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-v8h7-rr48-vmmv","summary":"Netty: Start-Line Injection in DefaultHttpRequest.setUri() Allows HTTP Request Smuggling and RTSP Request Injection","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:47.637727522Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.netty:netty-codec-http","purl":"pkg:maven/io.netty/netty-codec-http","ranges":["<4.1.133.Final"],"fixed":["4.1.133.Final"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.netty:netty-codec-http","purl":"pkg:maven/io.netty/netty-codec-http","ranges":[">=4.2.0.Alpha1 <4.2.13.Final"],"fixed":["4.2.13.Final"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
