Versions prior to 5.3.0 are vulnerable to denial of service through unbounded memory growth while processing directory listings from a remote FTP server. A malicious or compromised server can send an extremely large or never-ending listing response to `Client.list()`, causing the client process to consume memory until it becomes unstable or crashes. Version 5.3.0 fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-400","CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/patrickjuchli/basic-ftp/security/advisories/GHSA-rp42-5vxx-qpwr","https://github.com/patrickjuchli/basic-ftp/security/advisories/GHSA-rp42-5vxx-qpwr"],"products":["patrickjuchli:basic-ftp"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T21:38:48.864438205+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-41324","score":0.00332,"percentile":0.26203,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-rp42-5vxx-qpwr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rp42-5vxx-qpwr","summary":"basic-ftp vulnerable to denial of service via unbounded memory consumption in Client.list()","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:03.112601112Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"basic-ftp","purl":"pkg:npm/basic-ftp","ranges":["<5.3.0"],"fixed":["5.3.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
