Versions prior to 8.5.10 do not escape `</style>` sequences when stringifying CSS ASTs. When user-submitted CSS is parsed and re-stringified for embedding in HTML `<style>` tags, `</style>` in CSS values breaks out of the style context, enabling XSS. Version 8.5.10 fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/postcss/postcss/releases/tag/8.5.10","https://github.com/postcss/postcss/security/advisories/GHSA-qx2v-qp2m-jg93","https://github.com/postcss/postcss/security/advisories/GHSA-qx2v-qp2m-jg93"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:33:09.003606135+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-41305","score":0.00205,"percentile":0.10477,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-qx2v-qp2m-jg93","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qx2v-qp2m-jg93","summary":"PostCSS has XSS via Unescaped </style> in its CSS Stringify Output","modified":"2026-09-10T03:51:02.916463871Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"postcss","purl":"pkg:npm/postcss","ranges":["<8.5.10"],"fixed":["8.5.10"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
