{"cve":"CVE-2026-41207","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-04T18:16:30.433","modified":"2026-07-22T20:10:00.127","status":"Analyzed","description":"The netty incubator codec.bhttp is a java language binary http parser. Prior to version 0.0.21.Final, HKDF_expand returns non-NULL on failure. The byte[] is filled with zeros and has no way to distinguish success from failure. Since this output is used as HKDF key material for the response AEAD, a failure silently produces an all-zero key. When EVP_HPKE_CTX_export fails it also returns an empty byte[] array filled with zeros. This byte[] feeds directly into OHttpCrypto.createResponseAEAD(...). A silent all-zero export secret would produce a deterministic, attacker-predictable AEAD key. Version 0.0.21.Final patches the issue.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.9},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-330"],"references":["https://github.com/netty/netty-incubator-codec-ohttp/commit/3d3b4e527fc82ad0fe3db1af951ffd0ec9a10680","https://github.com/netty/netty-incubator-codec-ohttp/security/advisories/GHSA-f659-372h-6x3x"],"products":["netty:netty-incubator-codec-ohttp"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:37:48.043517290+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-41207","score":0.00193,"percentile":0.08988,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-f659-372h-6x3x","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-f659-372h-6x3x","summary":"netty-incubator-codec-ohttp's HPKEContext operations may produce empty byte[] on failures","modified":"2026-06-09T12:00:13.811247853Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.netty.incubator:netty-incubator-codec-ohttp","purl":"pkg:maven/io.netty.incubator/netty-incubator-codec-ohttp","ranges":["<0.0.21.Final"],"fixed":["0.0.21.Final"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
