Prior to version 1.22.1, a user who has `write:admin` in one Keycloak realm can call the Manager API to update Keycloak realm roles for users in another realm, including `master`. The handler uses the `{realm}` path segment when talking to the identity provider but does not check that the caller may administer that realm. This could result in a privilege escalation to `master` realm administrator if the attacker controls any user in `master` realm. Version 1.22.1 fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:L","score":7.0},"cwes":["CWE-284"],"references":["https://github.com/openremote/openremote/releases/tag/1.22.1","https://github.com/openremote/openremote/security/advisories/GHSA-49vv-25qx-mg44","https://github.com/openremote/openremote/security/advisories/GHSA-49vv-25qx-mg44"],"products":["openremote:openremote"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:33:09.003606135+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-41166","score":0.00285,"percentile":0.21078,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-49vv-25qx-mg44","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-49vv-25qx-mg44","summary":"OpenRemote has Improper Access Control via updateUserRealmRoles function","modified":"2026-05-05T16:00:53.382967Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.openremote:openremote-manager","purl":"pkg:maven/io.openremote/openremote-manager","ranges":["<1.22.1"],"fixed":["1.22.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
