{"cve":"CVE-2026-41164","nvd":{"published":"2026-05-26T18:16:47.683","modified":"2026-07-24T11:10:00.170","status":"Deferred","description":"nuts-node is the reference implementation of the Nuts specification. Prior to 6.2.3 and 5.4.31, the v1 access token introspection endpoint (/auth/v1/introspect_access_token) accepts any JWT signed by a key present on the node, without validating the JWT type, issuer-to-key binding, or required claims. This allows a Verifiable Presentation (VP) JWT to be replayed as an access token and receive an active: true introspection response. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.2.3 and 5.4.31.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":4.4},"cwes":["CWE-345"],"references":["https://github.com/nuts-foundation/nuts-node/security/advisories/GHSA-9hmg-827w-9rhj"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:36:28.938604137+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-41164","score":0.00076,"percentile":0.00096,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9hmg-827w-9rhj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9hmg-827w-9rhj","summary":"nuts-node has JWT type confusion in v1 access token introspection that allows VP replay as access token","modified":"2026-06-25T19:56:21.152328818Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/nuts-foundation/nuts-node","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/nuts-foundation/nuts-node","ranges":["<=1.1.0"],"fixed":[]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-5291","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-5291","summary":"nuts-node has JWT type confusion in v1 access token introspection that allows VP replay as access token in github.com/nuts-foundation/nuts-node","modified":"2026-06-25T19:45:26.402781413Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/nuts-foundation/nuts-node","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/nuts-foundation/nuts-node","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
