The vulnerability exists in the ping functionality within the /cgi-bin/portal.cgi endpoint, specifically affecting the ping_ip, ping_size, and ping_times POST parameters. The root cause is the failure to verify and sanitize user-supplied input before incorporating it into a system command. This allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the shell and gain root access to the system. This issue has been fixed in firmware version 1.1.0.651412","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:H/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H","score":9.3},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://cert.pl/posts/2026/09/CVE-2026-40854"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:54:41.405518556+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-40855","score":0.01592,"percentile":0.75695,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
