{"cve":"CVE-2026-4066","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-23T23:17:13.227","modified":"2026-06-17T10:55:56.017","status":"Deferred","description":"The Smart Custom Fields plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized access of data due to a missing capability check on the relational_posts_search() function in all versions up to, and including, 5.0.6. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and above, to read private and draft post content from other authors via the smart-cf-relational-posts-search AJAX action. The function queries posts with post_status=any and returns full WP_Post objects including post_content, but only checks the generic edit_posts capability instead of verifying whether the requesting user has permission to read each individual post.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":4.3},"cwes":["CWE-862"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/smart-custom-fields/trunk/classes/fields/class.field-related-posts.php#L101","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/smart-custom-fields/trunk/classes/fields/class.field-related-posts.php#L143","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/smart-custom-fields/trunk/classes/fields/class.field-related-posts.php#L78","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?sfp_email=&sfph_mail=&reponame=&new=3485210%40smart-custom-fields%2Ftrunk&old=3416964%40smart-custom-fields%2Ftrunk&sfp_email=&sfph_mail=#file2","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/87f52e3a-e414-4f47-b46c-e3811e76744b?source=cve"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-4066","score":0.003,"percentile":0.22773,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
