Up to 1.0.0 of home-assitant-cli an unrestricted environment was used to handle Jninja2 templates instead of a sandboxed one. The user-supplied input within Jinja2 templates was rendered locally with no restrictions. This gave users access to Python's internals and extended the scope of templating beyond the intended usage. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.0.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:H/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":5.6},"cwes":["CWE-94","CWE-1336"],"references":["https://github.com/home-assistant-ecosystem/home-assistant-cli/pull/453","https://github.com/home-assistant-ecosystem/home-assistant-cli/security/advisories/GHSA-33qf-q99x-wpm8"],"products":["home-assistant-ecosystem:home_assistant_command-line_interface"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-26T21:38:48.864438205+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-40602","score":0.00103,"percentile":0.00987,"date":"2026-10-26"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-33qf-q99x-wpm8","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-33qf-q99x-wpm8","summary":"Home Assistant Command-line Interface: Handling of user-supplied Jinja2 templates","modified":"2026-07-13T16:42:26.177701025Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"homeassistant-cli","purl":"pkg:pypi/homeassistant-cli","ranges":["<1.0.0"],"fixed":["1.0.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2518","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2518","summary":"Home Assistant Command-line Interface: Handling of user-supplied Jinja2 templates","modified":"2026-07-13T16:31:57.119350248Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"homeassistant-cli","purl":"pkg:pypi/homeassistant-cli","ranges":["<1.0.0"],"fixed":["1.0.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
