{"cve":"CVE-2026-4035","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-03T09:16:13.083","modified":"2026-08-14T13:19:00.193","status":"Modified","description":"A vulnerability in mlflow/mlflow versions prior to 3.11.0 allows for the resolution of environment variables in AI Gateway secrets, which can be exploited to exfiltrate sensitive server-side environment credentials to an attacker-controlled endpoint. This issue arises because the `api_key` field in gateway secrets can accept `$ENV_VAR` references, which are resolved against the MLflow server's environment during runtime. The resolved secrets are then sent in provider authentication headers to the configured upstream `api_base`. This vulnerability can be exploited by low-privileged authenticated users in basic-auth deployments or by unauthenticated users in default deployments without `basic-auth`. The impact includes potential leakage of sensitive credentials such as cloud artifact credentials (`AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID`, `AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY`), which could lead to artifact poisoning and cross-boundary code execution in downstream environments. The issue is fixed in version 3.11.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.7},"cwes":["CWE-201"],"references":["https://github.com/mlflow/mlflow/commit/4a3f2f720cb4f058c9e0c5b883e0acc9ab64a7f3","https://huntr.com/bounties/f8e591a0-0f19-4910-b82e-16c9956f2233","https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-4035","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2484318","https://huntr.com/bounties/f8e591a0-0f19-4910-b82e-16c9956f2233"],"products":["lfprojects:mlflow"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:37:48.043517290+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-4035","score":0.00521,"percentile":0.44252,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-g35p-px32-whv6","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-g35p-px32-whv6","summary":"MLflow: Environment variable injection in AI Gateway secrets enables server-side credential exfiltration","modified":"2026-07-13T07:26:21.561108392Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"mlflow","purl":"pkg:pypi/mlflow","ranges":["<3.11.0"],"fixed":["3.11.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-2222","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-2222","summary":"","modified":"2026-07-13T16:45:04.877817766Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"mlflow","purl":"pkg:pypi/mlflow","ranges":["<3.11.0"],"fixed":["3.11.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
